John is currently working on several course design projects in addition to writing articles for the PDGA's official publication, Flying Disc Magazine. Below are John's current design projects:
Brushy Creek Recreation Park
Cedar Park, Texas
The property includes large mature trees, interesting elevation features, a wet-weather creek, and borders Brushy Creek. Nine holes should be open in July, with a possible expansion to 18 holes down the road.
Kansas City, Missouri
John will be reviewing at least one course for the PDGA. Kansas City is hosting the PDGA Professional and Amateur World Championships in 2009.
Raul Alvarez Disc Golf Complex
Austin, Texas
This landmark project by the City of Austin will feature two championship 18-hole courses on a spectacular property bordering Little Walnut Creek. This facility, designed to include a permanent pro shop, will be a breakthrough in municipal managed play of disc golf. Opening date uncertain.
City Lake Park
Boerne, Texas
This lakeside 9-hole hill country course will feature multiple par fours among big oak trees. A fun and challenging course with lots of character. The City of Boerne is already considering future expansion to 18 holes. Opening summer 2008.
Prince Solms Park
New Braunfels, Texas
John is redesigning the original nine holes to accommodate changes in this city park.
Inwood Hollow HOA Community Park
San Antonio, Texas
This 9-hole course is in a private, gated community and will not be open to the public. Short but challenging course in a scenic setting for residents only. Opening summer 2008.
International Disc Golf Center
Augusta, Georgia
This summer John will be working on the next phase of improvements on the W.R. Jackson Memorial Course, which should include new landscaping and small refinements to selected holes.
